With a special thanks to volunteer Race Directors Kristi Ferrero (SP) and Stephanie Raufer (NP), we had another great Kids Tri Series in 2011. Thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, youth athletes, parents, and Habitat staff who made this a successful event for Habitat program families.
Do it for the kids – the athletes and the program families!
Since the inception of the Triathlon by a team of Habitat staff and volunteers in 2001, the series has raised more than $700,000 on behalf of affordable housing for low income families in need. The triathlons give children in our community a chance to compete in an exciting event, and gives Habitat the opportunity to raise funds on behalf of the program families we serve.

The Kids Triathlon is not possible without our volunteers who generously give of their time and energy the day of the event. We are looking for PEOPLE LIKE YOU to guide our young athletes as they swim, bike, run, transition, and cross the finish line. Most volunteers are needed starting at 6:00am on race day. Volunteer opportunities are available prior to the race as well. Please consider helping to make this event the biggest and best event yet! Volunteer here!

Habitat's program families and volunteers have been busy since the last youth triathlete ran across the finish line last summer. We completed a rehab in Sharpsburg, a weatherization project in Braddock, started new construction in Bloomfield/Garfield and completed work on our new ReStore in Edgewood Towne Centre. We're continuing to build throughout Allegheny County.
Raising Awareness
Habitat for
Humanity continually seeks to raise awareness of poverty housing and how we can eliminate substandard housing in our community. The Kids Triathlon is yet another way Habitat is able to expose children to the needs of others around them and the importance of community service.
Habitat believes that
these kids will one
day come to the
construction site and
swing a hammer!
