What is the ReStore?

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts donations of reusable home improvement and building materials. These goods are then sold to the public at deep discount. All proceeds from the sale of donations help place families in affordable shelter in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

The ReStore provides an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream while providing funding for Habitat’s community improvement work. All of the stores are different...be sure to visit the other stores in our area to get a full selection of merchandise. Volunteers work every aspect of the ReStore including customer service, picking up donations, and sorting donated goods.

History of the ReStore

The ReStore’s original location, a 25,000 square foot store, opened in 2011 in the Edgewood Towne Centre and operated there with great support from donors, shoppers, and volunteers in the surrounding community until its closing in June of 2015. To best serve our shoppers and fulfill our mission of providing funding for Habitat's local affordable housing programs, the Braddock Hills ReStore location opened in late January of 2016 as a smaller, temporary location, selling mostly large appliances and non-upholstered furniture items. After a short hiatus, the ReStore opened in October of 2016 at its current location in the Swissvale Shopping center.
