Forest Hills Renovation For Single Mom
Saturday December 12, HFHGP passed the keys of a two story home, a donation from the previous owners, in Forest Hills over to Ms. Yolanda Keyes and her daughter Shaque. Yolanda put in 350 hours of sweat equity over the past few months working alongside Habitat volunteers while balancing her full time job at UPMC Mercy. Her hard work has finally paid off as she and her daughter are now getting ready for the holidays in their new home! Click here to read more about our dedication ceremony in Forest Hills.
Habitat home on Chessland St. in Westwood
On November 14, we dedicated our newest Habitat home on Chessland St. in the Westwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Volunteers, sponsors, friends, relatives, and Habitat staff joined the Debbie Miller and her family (pictured below) in celebrating the culmination of 6 months of hard work and determination represented by this beautiful new house. New Home Gives New Freedom to Family's Son
After beginning their sweat equity work back in April of this year Barbara Jackson and her three sons were overjoyed to move into their new home in Wilkinsburg in October. Barbara's youngest, Lamel, requires the use of a wheelchair and has never in his 20 years been able to move freely in his own home. Now thanks to the tireless work of his family, Habitat volunteers, and staff Lamel has a newfound level of independence he never dreamed could be possible. Find out more in the Tribune Review's story by clicking here. Congratulations to Lamel, Barbara, and the rest of the Jackson family!
Thank you to all who attended the dedications, and helped these families achieve the dream of home ownership! A whole new world of opportunity is now open to them and it never would have been possible without you!
