17th Annual Kids Triathlon Series Benefits Habitat for Humanity

(South Park, PA)  Young athletes from Southwestern Pennsylvania and beyond will compete in Habitat Pittsburgh’s 17th annual Kids Triathlon in South Park this Saturday July 15th, 2017. Since its inception seventeen years ago by a group of Habitat Pittsburgh supporters and US Congressman Tim Murphy, the Kids Triathlon Series has raised over $900,000 for affordable housing and has helped instill the value of community service in over 5,800 young participants. Young athletes ages 7-12 and their families will swim, bike, and run at the July 15th event, which raises funds for Habitat’s affordable housing programs. All child participants will receive gift bags and finishers medals, and will qualify to win trophies and other prizes.

Dr. Howard B. Slaughter, Jr., President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh said, “The Triathlon is a great opportunity for young kids to experience run, walk and swim activities; while parents get to cheer their kids along the race.  It also benefits Habitat Pittsburgh, which provides homeownership opportunities for low and limited income families throughout Allegheny County.”

The Kids Triathlon Series and Habitat Pittsburgh’s affordable housing programs are made possible by many community partners. Habitat would like to thank all its 2017 Kids Triathlon sponsors for their crucial support:

Premier Sponsors: Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, W.G. Tomko, and Johnson & Jonson
Platinum Sponsor: Giant Eagle and Mylan
Gold Sponsors: Howard Hanna
