Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh ReStore Partners with Levin Furniture
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh’s ReStore is pleased to announce a new partnership with Levin Furniture. The company will be donating furniture items to the ReStore to be sold at discounted prices. Levin Furniture has been family-owned and operated since 1920, and has long supported their surrounding communities. With 31 furniture and mattress stores in Southwestern Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio, this is the largest company the Pittsburgh Habitat ReStore has partnered with.
The Pittsburgh Habitat ReStore accepts donations of reusable home goods and building materials which are sold to the public at a deep discount. All proceeds from the sale of donations help support the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh. The ReStore also provides an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream.
Dr. Howard B. Slaughter, Jr., President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh said, "We are extremely gratified that Levin Furniture chose the Restore to provide quality furniture, which ultimately benefits the consumers who shop at the Restore. There is a great and expanded need for the products we offer and is why in a given year 16% to 18% of consumers shop at places like the Restore. The furniture we receive from Levin will add immeasurably to the quality we offer at the Restore and represents the first such partnership we've had with a major furniture store.”
Gus Glyptis, Vice President of Finance at Levin stated, “The Levin family has a long tradition of contributing to our local communities. We are very excited to begin our partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh. We share in the vision that everyone in our community deserves a decent place to live.”
Levin Furniture has already begun supplying the Pittsburgh Habitat ReStore with wicker furniture, wooden dining room items, and a few upholstered items. In the future, the Pittsburgh Habitat ReStore expects to receive an assortment of bedroom, dining room, and living room furniture from Levin’s. The ReStore hopes to eventually sell complete bed sets, including mattresses and box springs, items the ReStore has been unable to provide in the past.
The 3,000 square foot Pittsburgh Habitat ReStore is located in the Braddock Hills Shopping Center and is open Tuesday through Saturday 10am-4pm. It offers furniture, appliances, tools, hardware, and housewares to consumers throughout the region and is owned and operated by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh.
