Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh offers several affordable home repair programs designed to help low-income homeowners. Repairs are completed primarily through the efforts of our volunteers, with green and sustainable building practices used whenever possible. Repairs are affordable, as they are completed at no-profit to Habitat. If needed, low or no-interest loans may be available to help finance the cost of the work..

A Brush With Kindness (ABWK)
ABWK helps with minor-to moderate exterior repairs. Eligible repairs include painting, landscaping, roof repair/replacement, window replacement, accessibility modifications, and other volunteer-friendly activities.
Veterans Build Program
The Veterans Build Program assists local veterans and their families with necessary home repairs or renovations including interior and exterior accessibility modifications. In addition to providing or preserving access to quality, affordable housing, our Veterans Build Program gives veterans an opportunity to serve together as volunteers and helps facilitate reintegration with the community.
Weatherization Services (P.H.F.A. Partnership)
HFHGP has partnered with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) to help homeowners with low-cost repairs that make their house more energy-efficient. Repairs save homeowners money on their utility bills and can help improve the air quality, safety and longevity of the home. Repairs are completed through a contractor and financed through a loan with PHFA. Eligible repairs include; roof repair/replacement, energy-efficient windows and doors, energy-efficient heating/cooling systems, air sealing, insulation and ductwork.
Critical Home Repair
CHR provides affordable rehabilitation work for major home repairs and improvements necessary for restoring and maintaining safe and sound living conditions and home values. These repairs are performed to allevaite criticial health, life and safety issues or code violations and may include the following: a change to or repair of materials or components, a reconfiguration of space, a modification for accessibility, and installation or extension of plumbing, mechanicial or electrical sytems. These repairs are typically extensive and may require the assistance of outside contractor help in addition to volunteer support.
