June 15th, 2015: Perkins Eastman to host a design competition on June 29th.
Habitat for Humanity's Sustainable Construction Committee has been working hard to draft plans for a green building project in the McKeesport area. On June 29th, Perkins Eastman will host its ninth annual internal competition to kick-start the plans for this home. Over 900 employees, from Perkins Eastman's 14 offices, were invited to draw up building design plans for a sustainable, affordable, and healthy home for a family of five. Individuals or teams of up to three people, were given the site survey, a Habitat for Humanity house description, and photos of the site.
Judging will take place at the Perkins Eastman offices on June 29th at 5 PM. The judges will include a diverse group of representatives from within Perkins Eastman, HFHGP, and the local community. The winning design will be announced the first week of July and the winner will receive an iPad mini.
The design will be further developed by Habitat's Sustainable Construction committee to be led by Gerrod Winston at Desmone & Associates, with support from Gerard Schmidt at Perkins Eastman and James Sheehan at Renaissance 3 Architects.
HFHGP extends a big "thank you" to Perkins Eastman for hosting this helpful competition!
