September 15, 2015: Next week is National A Brush with Kindness Week!
During the week of Sept. 19-26, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh will be one of nearly 40 Habitat affiliates across the United States collaborating with
Valspar and Wells Fargo to launch A Brush with Kindness Week, a nationwide effort to transform neighborhoods. During this week, Habitat affiliates accross the country will complete projects in partnership with more than 153 low-income, homeowners. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh is thrilled to be able to help 3 local homeowners with extensive yard-cleanup projects. Our projects include:
-Northside Project: Trimming bushes and repairing a retaining wall in the yard of an 85-year old woman living on the Northside.
-Braddock Project: Removing debris and replacing a downspout for single mother in Braddock. Her MS prevents her from being able to do the work herself.
- Mt. Oliver Project: Yard cleanup and tree pruning for a disabled former nurse living in Mt. Oliver.
Volunteer groups from ABWK Week sponsors Valspar and Wells Fargo as well as groups from Duquesne Light, Senceca Resources, and Pitt’s Habitat Campus chapter will be on site helping our construction team to complete these projects. Thanks to the volunteers and sponsors who are helping to support these projects!
